The Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) has made available online the recommendations from the Dental Assistant Review Committee (DA RC) on revising the Accreditation Standards for Dental Assisting Education Programs. This review has been going on since 2010 and just in February, the Commission directed the revised accreditation standards to be distributed for comment to interested parties for their own review over the next year. The CODA staff will accept and compile written mailed and emailed comments and will provide opportunities for public comment at formal open hearings.
The proposed standards can be viewed online here.
The Dental Assisting Review Committee “believes the revised standards will strengthen the educational process and serve the greater needs of the public by offering more clarification and guidance to CODA-accredited dental assisting programs.”
